Perfect for professional painters and decorators, conservators and restorers, scenic artists and set designers, building custodians and specifiers, painting and decorating tutors.
This course is designed for those who have completed our two-day, all-abilities course, or who have had previous skills level training in traditional faux marbling techniques. You will be shown how to create professional looking faux marbling in this in-person, intensive one-day, intermediate/advanced, traditional faux marbling paint effects, accredited course.
Includes professional tutoring, leading to independent creations of faux marbling effects and a signed, accredited, CPD course certificate.
This course covers everything you need to know to recreate these ancient paint techniques, taking the skills that you already have to an advanced professional skills level, in a nurturing and safe studio environment.

This professional level accredited course equips participants with practical skills and knowledge on how to create professional looking faux marble paint effects. The course enables participants to work closely with an experienced and qualified paint effects artist with over 35 years of experience in the industry, working in a safe inclusive environment.

Course Breakdown
Morning

A short overview of the history and current use of traditional faux marbling in the workplace

Demonstration of marbling techniques by the course tutor

A short recap of the correct methods of surface preparation, including primers and basecoats
-
Preparing and priming sample boards
-
A short recap and explanation on the correct mixing and use of glazes by course tutor

Preparing and mixing glazes
-
Introduction of tools and equipment used to create professional faux marbling effects
-
Practice creating three distinct traditional marbling techniques, including background effects and veining techniques

Prepare and basecoat final assessment board provided

Using previously mixed glazes participants will create their three assigned faux marbling effects to produce a competent and realistic sample piece for assessment by the course tutor

Assessment will include the level of knowledge of the types of marble to be reproduced, the skills involved in preparation and mixing of glazes and the use and knowledge of tools and equipment used

Participants will be given the opportunity to ask the course tutor any questions pertaining to the course

Participants will have the opportunity to keep their final assessment board to take away with them to keep and use for their own portfolio

Participants will be given handouts and encouraged to provide feedback through reflective practice and evaluation sheets

Location:
One-day, intermediate/advanced level courses are held at our purposed built studio in Hythe, Kent
We also run courses at alternative locations around the country subject to availability and these will be advertised via the website when confirmed.
This course is designed and structured for students with previous skills training in traditional faux marbling techniques.
We ask that participants have a thorough understanding of paints, decorating materials and equipment before enrolling onto this course.
