The Art & Craft of Woodgraining Advanced
£290
Advanced workshop, experienced students only (see below)

There are no dates currently scheduled for this workshop, please register your interest and we will let you know when the next workshop is organised.

OVERVIEW

This workshop is designed and structured for students with experience in decorative paint techniques to gain a more in-depth understanding of the ancient art of faux wood graining. We ask that only students who have attended our beginners course, or have experience in paint effect techniques attend this workshop. If you are unsure whether you have enough experience please contact us.

Over the course of the day, you will become comfortable and proficient in using the paints and glazes used to master these skills. You will introduced to traditional oil and modern acrylic scumble glazes and colourants, used extensively by professionals around the world, and shown their correct use and applications in a variety of situations.

Workshops will be run by Simon Nobs, Director of Snobs Interiors Ltd., with over 30 years experience working as a specialist interior decorator and designer. The workshop will start with an overview of the day and a brief history of the paint effect over tea and coffee.

Before starting on the practice boards Simon will give a detailed explanation of the correct use of primers and basecoats to be applied to a variety of surfaces and you will then prepare and basecoat the sample boards. Whilst the boards are drying, Simon will give a demonstration of some of the techniques you will be introduced to. You will then be guided through the different stages used to create professional looking faux wood graining effects in a number of styles and then shown the correct use and application of varnishes and sealants used to protect and enhance your work.

DETAILS

The workshop will start at 9.30 am and we aim to finish around 4.00 pm. All students are asked to bring an apron or wear suitable clothing.

The atmosphere will be relaxed and informal and there will be plenty a time throughout the day to ask Simon questions and advice on anything to do with painting, decorating and design projects.
