Faux Wood Graining Techniques
One Day Course - £105
This course is designed and structured for people of all abilities to learn a basic understanding of the craft of faux wood graining paint techniques and to be comfortable using the paints and glazes used to master them. Courses will be run by Simon Nobs, Director of Snobs Interiors Ltd., with over 30 years experience working as a specialist interior decorator and designer. We will start at 9.30am and aim to finish around 3.30pm. We will begin with a talk about the day and a brief history of some of the graining effects, over tea and coffee. Simon will give a detailed explanation of the correct use of primers and basecoats to be applied to a variety of surfaces and we will then move on to prepare and basecoat the sample boards. Whilst the boards are drying, Simon will give a demonstration of some of the techniques that the students will be introduced to. You will then be guided through the different stages used to create a professional looking faux wood graining effects, and then shown the correct use of varnishes to protect your work. The atmosphere will be relaxed and informal and there will be plenty a time throughout the day to ask Simon questions and advice on anything to do with decorating and design.
All materials and tools will be available to use throughout the day, and sample boards will be provided to all to practice the techniques and to take home if you wish.
All students are asked to bring an apron or wear suitable clothing. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be available throughout the day. Unfortunately we will not be able to cater for any special dietary requirements or allergies, so you are asked to please bring a packed lunch.
Maximum of 6 students per course & minimum of 3 student per course.
10% deposit required to secure your place on the course, with balance payable by bank transfer or cheque, before the course starts. Cards cannot be accepted.
